There is nothing quite like a warm bowl of soup on a wintery day, is there? I’ve shared a few reels on Instagram that features hearty soups from different cultures, and today I want to share a warm noodle soup recipe that is one of our family favorites. It’s called Mee Soto Ayam which roughly translates to “Chicken Noodle Soup”!
A Warm Noodle Soup Recipe From Our Visit to Malaysia
Where does this delicious noodle soup recipe come from?
This delicious recipe originates from Java and has been diversified into a variety of dishes across the Indonesian Archipelago, as well as Malaysia, all while keeping true to the original flavors of the soup base. Some serve it with rice, some serve it with noodles and others serve it over pressed rice cubes. We love them in all forms haha!
Enjoying the warm, noodle soup in Langkawi…
While at the Meritus Pelangi Resort in Langkawi, there was a station specially set up where we could choose the accompaniments of our choice. The chef then cooked the noodle and poured the savory chicken soup over it for our enjoyment. The recipe I’m sharing is a traditional one that uses shredded chicken. The beauty of this dish is that you can enjoy it with anything you’d like! You can even use meatballs, fish tofu, yellow noodles, add sliced chili, or anything else you would love in it.
